Highlights include: Our Valentine's project netted 78 Valentine cards, 67 bookmarks, and a multitude of other gifts. Our holiday card making yielded 140 holiday cards. Throughout the year and especially at holiday time, we delivered: 55 quilts, 32 therapy pillows, 86 wheelchair/walker bags, 73 totes, 56 bookmarks, and 59 other stitchery gift items as well as many purchased tote bag items to Century Care Center, Berry Hill Manor, Favor House, Ronald McDonald House, Baptist Cancer Institute, Santa Rosa Kids House, and three special request individuals.
Designers Marti Harrington, Renate of Stickeule, Brooke of Brooke's Books, Ellen of EMS, Loretta Oliver, of Stitching the Night Away, generously helped us by allowing us to use their patterns free or at a significant discount.
This past year our group stitched, sewed and quilted many items for charity. We had a variety of quilt themes open, such as: Stars, Ballerinas, Wild Animals, EMS Animal Babies, Patriotic,Veggies, Cats, Cars, Stitcher's Alphabet, Nautical, Patriotic, Houses, Sunbonnet Sues, Chickens, Snowflake, Autumn Leaves, and many more.
Several generous businesses contributed to prizes for our blog giveaways, including: Fat Quarter Shop, Everything Cross Stitch, Riley Blake Designs, Quilting Lodge, Auriful, Vee and Company, Tie Dye Diva, Green Fairy Quilts, and members of WOCS.
The group is off to a good start already in 2014, as we encourage our members to join in and participate in whatever way they are able, empowering WOCS to do even more good things for the people we serve.
Thank you Sandy. I am certainly not a webmaster by any means, but I do what I can. Come join in the stitching or sewing. We love having new members. Peggy (co-owner of WOCS)
