"JUST BOYS" THEME FOR A QUILT

Our members had some fun stitching squares for boys to be made into a quilt or two.   Boy-themed squares are sometimes hard to find, but our members outdid themselves stitching these for the quilts.

These squares will make some little boys very happy when they receive their quilts.

Our group donates to the Ronald McDonald House and to the Favor House, a domestic violence shelter.

New Stitching Theme - Birds

There has been a lot of stitching going on this summer for this new theme - Birds.  And the variety of birds is amazing.  These will make some nice quilts for seniors.

We hope some of our readers will be inspired to join us in our stitching for children and seniors.  It is always gratifying to give to others, especially those less fortunate.

Whimsical Butterflies

Our group has had fun stitching these whimsical butterflies (a free pattern from BattyBat).  There were a lot of butterflies for our members to choose from and some members stitched several of them, as they were easy and fast to stitch.

We hope to make at least three quilts from this theme, to be given to seniors in a care facility or children.

Sun, Moon, Celestial Stars Quilt Theme

Our newest quilt theme, "Sun, Moon, and Celestial Stars" has been a big hit.  Several of our members have stitched more than one square for these quilts.

Our group tries to find a variety of themes to stitch in order to make it interesting for the members.  Every once in a while we do bring back a popular theme, such as Cupcakes, Teapots, Vegetables, etc.   Occasionally, members suggest themes and we do try our best to use these suggestions.

These quilts, when they are completed, will be donated to either a man or woman at a senior care facility, where they will be so appreciated by whoever receives them.

Totes and Other Gifts for Seniors

Our group mainly stitches squares for quilts and makes beautiful quilts for seniors and children.  However, we also make other smaller gifts to give throughout the year.  These are a few of the pillows, totes, eyeglass cases, wheelchair bags, walker bags, greeting cards  and bookmarks that we sew with squares stitched by our members.  Most of these have already been donated to elder care facilities for the seniors.  Sometimes members can't meet a deadline so they have the option of stitching "odd pieces" to be made into other gifts.  And sometimes we have left-over squares from the quilt themes that we use for other gifts.

"Music Makes My Heart Sing"

Isn't this the cutest little owl?   One of our members, Lisa T., stitched this for our current Music Theme.  We've had a huge variety of charts stitched.  It is amazing that members can choose these charts for our themes, and most of the time, there are no duplicates.  Every once in a while we do have duplicates, but since we usually get enough squares to make more than one quilt, that is not a problem.   Several of our members have even stitched more than one pattern for this theme.

We always enjoy having  new members to stitch with us; you can join our group by clicking here.

Spring is in the Air

Most of the USA and Canada has had more than the usual amount of snow this season.  Our group has been stitching a "Spring is in the Air" quilt theme in the hope it will brighten our days, as well as the seniors who will be receiving the finished quilts.  There is so much variety in this theme, as each member who is stitching has many patterns to choose from, either from their own stash or from free internet sites.  Some of the members have already stitched more than one piece.

Flowers in Bloom

Our group has had a good stitching time creating these beautiful flowers for a quilt or two.  Members choose their own patterns they have on hand or that they find on the internet.  Everyone seems to love flowers, so this was a very popular theme, especially for this time of year.

We hope that by seeing these beautiful creations, you might be inspired to stitch for charity.  It is very rewarding to create gifts for those less fortunate, especially with our own hands and with our hearts.

Grow Your Blog Hop

2 Bags Full

Vicki, at 2 Bags Full, has organized another wonderful blog hop.  This is the first time World of Charity Stitching has participated in this hop.  Looks like a lot of fun, so hop right in!

WORLD OF CHARITY STITCHING

World of Charity Stitching, started in 2007, is an online group of counted cross stitchers, quilters, crafters, and sewists from around the world who enjoy making and giving to those in need.  Our group makes lap quilts, therapy pillows, walker bags, tote bags, wheelchair bags, greeting cards, mug rugs, eyeglass cases, bookmarks, and other items to give to children in need and to the elderly in nursing homes/care facilities.

Our Valentine project last year yielded 126 cards and over 35 gift items distributed to seniors at Century Care and Berryhill Manor.  Our holiday card project resulted in enough cards for each resident at Forsyth House to receive one with their mug, mug rug, and assortment of candies, crackers, and  drink packets, plus over 40 holiday cards also went to Asbury Place.
Gift totals for 2014 were: 51 quilts, 40 walker bags, 22 wheelchair bags, 15 therapy pillows, 56 totes, 32 bookmarks, and a host of other items including tins, book covers, card boxes and cases, fleece throws, file folders, sachets, and purchased gifts.  These gifts were delivered to Century Care Center, Berry Hill Manor, Favor House, Ronald McDonald House, Asbury Place, as well as two special requests to individuals.

Each year World of Charity Stitching continues to grow in size -we now have 335 members throughout the world:  USA, France, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Canada, to name a few.

Anyone who enjoys cross stitching, quilting, knitting, embroidering, crocheting, or sewing, is welcome to join World of Charity Stitching (free internet membership) for the opportunity to use their talents to bring cheer and comfort to children and adults at a stressful time in their lives.  Our group accepts donations of quilting and sewing items, such as thread and fabric and monetary donations to help with costs of purchasing materials to make the gifts.

Yahoo group owners/moderators:
Rachel, co-owner (AZ)
Peggy, co-owner (FL)

One of our current quilt themes is Silhouettes.  This has been a fun stitching event that has garnered many different styles of silhouettes.   These stitched squares will be made into a beautiful quilt for a senior lady or man in a care facility.  Other themes currently open are Flowers, Cartoon Characters, and Valentine Cards.

If you are looking for a wonderful outlet for your stitching, sewing, crocheting, knitting or other craft hobby, this is the place to be.  There is great satisfaction to be gained in helping others less fortunate.
