One of our current themes we are stitching for is Friendship.

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.”
Henri J.M. Nouwen   Out of Solitude: Three Meditations on the Christian Life

We all crave friendship, whether it be with our significant others, our acquaintances or someone we've just met, so we thought this theme would be a great one to show how much friendship means to each of us.
We hope whoever receives this quilt/or these quilts will enjoy looking at the squares stitched by our members and recall all the friendships they've had in their lives.

Snowmen and Women Quilt Theme

Even though it is early spring in most parts of the country, we recently finished stitching a Snowman/Woman theme for our quilts.  This was fun for a lot of members, as they had many snowmen charts in their stashes.  Some of our members stitched more than one square, so we have enough to make at least two quilts with these cute squares.

One of our members recently donated a large box of fabric and there is some winter fabric that will be perfect for one of these quilts.

One Snowman/Woman quilt has been finished by Carolyn B.  and will be delivered to a lucky senior at Southern Oaks Care Facility very soon.

Dear Jane Quilt

This is one of the finished quilts our group made with squares stitched from our members in the US, Indonesia and France.   It will be donated to a care facility in Florida in the next week or so.
One of our other quilters is quilting another Dear Jane quilt.

This is a small sampling of the squares stitched by our members.

Circle of Hearts Quilt Theme

This Circle of Hearts theme has been really popular with our stitchers.  They each decided what color to use for their individual hearts that they stitched.  Some of our members even stitched more than one motif, with one member, who enjoyed it very much, stitching four separate squares.

These will make some gorgeous, colorful quilts for our seniors.

Sweet Things Quilt Theme

We've had a mouth-watering time stitching these delicious sweets for this quilt theme.  A lot of members signed up for this theme, as most of them have charts depicting sweets.  Whoever finishes this quilt will be hungry while they are quilting, looking at all the yummy treats.

Our members had some fun stitching squares for boys to be made into a quilt or two.   Boy-themed squares are sometimes hard to find, but our members outdid themselves stitching these for the quilts.

These squares will make some little boys very happy when they receive their quilts.

Our group donates to the Ronald McDonald House and to the Favor House, a domestic violence shelter.

New Stitching Theme - Birds

There has been a lot of stitching going on this summer for this new theme - Birds.  And the variety of birds is amazing.  These will make some nice quilts for seniors.

We hope some of our readers will be inspired to join us in our stitching for children and seniors.  It is always gratifying to give to others, especially those less fortunate.
