WOCS 2012 YEARLY REPORT
2012 was a very good year for WOCS, as we all continued to support each other in growing the group participation and creating wonderful gifts for seniors and children in need of a cheerful lift.
Donated gifts included: 42 quilts, 58 therapy pillows, 38 wheelchair/walker bags, 56 totes, 62 bookmarks, and over 200 other hand made gift items as well as many purchased tote bag items to Century Care Center, Favor House, Ronald McDonald House, and five special request individuals. Two hospitals benefited from crocheted and knitted items donated by members too.
150 new members joined in 2012, 92 just since December when Brooke of Brooke's Books featured us on her website along with her snowflake design, which she designed specially for us. Vee & Co generously allowed us to use their Snow Globe patterns. Kell Smurthwaite of Kincavel Krosses designed a Scroll square for us. Judy from JBW Designs discounted the French Country patterns and featured us on her blog.
Several generous businesses contributed to prizes for our giveaways, including:
Cotton Blossom Farm
Ann Kelle Design
Tie Dye Diva
Fat Quarter Shop
Spice Berry Cottage
Coats and Clark
(and our own Bonnie C)
A huge thank you to Bonnie C, Dona R, Carolyn B, Deb C.,Lana E, Kimberly T, Kylie C, Laurie B., Nancy, Elizabeth E and her friend Wilma for doing a wonderful job of making the quilts. We were blessed to have the talents of Yvonne, Elizabeth E, McKenna, Gisela, Carolyn B, Pam H., Char, Kate, Dona, Deb C., and Gail who helped out Rachel, Peggy and Bonnie in sewing totes, etc. as well as sewing special gifts of their own. If anyone has been forgotten by name, please forgive us and remember that the recipient of your gift will not forget what you did for them.
Last but by no means least, thanks to all members who contributed in so many ways, giving time, giving money, donating materials or "found" pieces, making cards, encouraging others, and so on. You enabled WOCS to make all those terrific delivered items.
The group is on the right track to do even more in 2013, and we will continue to open our hearts and reach out our hands to bring even more cheer and love to those we serve this year.
