Eat Your Veggies!

These newest squares stitched by our members are Veggies-all kinds of veggies.  We had a wonderful variety of squares that will make a great quilt (or quilts) for a senior in a care facility.

Won't you join us in the creation of some beautiful quilts for charity.   It doesn't take a lot of time to help someone smile, and if you can do something you enjoy (stitching),  that makes it even better.

A QUILT FOR MITCHELL

This beautiful quilt was delivered today to Mitchell at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Spokane WA.  Mitchell is a very strong 14 year old boy with Leukemia and is about to head to Seattle for a bone marrow transplant.  Mitchell has been through so much since diagnosed in 2011 and we all hope this quilt brings him many moments of peace and happiness.

We don't have a photo of Mitchell because right now he is undergoing more chemo but you can read all about him on Facebook.  Click here.  Mitchell, if you should read this, this group of ladies hope and pray this quilt carries you through your upcoming transplant!

Star Design Stitch-a-Long

Isn't this Star beautiful?  It is one of the newest designs our group is stitching as a Stitch-a-Long.  We do these several times a year.  A pattern is chosen and everyone stitches the same design, using whatever color fabric and threads they choose.  The finished squares are made into one or two quilts to be donated to charity.

The designs were created by Renate, who lives in Germany.  Renate has a lot of free charts that she shares with her readers.  Please visit Renate's blog to see some of her fabulous designs.

Cats and Kittens Quilts

One of our most recent themes for a quilt is Cats or Kittens.  These are so cute and fun to stitch.  The variety of charts the members stitch is always amazing.
There are 20 members who signed up to stitch for this quilt theme, so there should be enough squares to make two beautiful quilts for charity.

If you enjoy cross stitching, won't you join us in helping to create these squares for charity.

World of Charity Stitching Giveaway sponsored by VeeandCo

The winner of our most recent giveaway is Marie, who lives in France.  She is one of the members of our group who stitches for charity.  Vee of VeeandCo has already been in touch with Marie to see what patterns she would like to have.

This is what Marie had to say about winning the patterns:
"I am really happy to be the winner. I can't believe it!  I didn't know Vee and Company patterns before joining the WOCS group, and I find the designs gorgeous.  Thank you for letting me know.
Marie"
Marie joined our group in March 2013.  We hope you will take a look at our Yahoo group website and decide to join in the stitching fun.

Animal Baby Quilts

We recently stitched squares for two animal baby quilts.  These two quilts were quilted by Deb C.

Last week they were delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola, FL, along with the Loony Tunes quilt, quilted by Bonnie C.

Here are a just a few of the individual squares stitched by members.

Boc, Boc, Boc. . . Cluck, Cluck, Cluck

One of the themes we are working on is the Chickens Quilt.  This is one of our special request quilts that is being made for a young lady who has Multiple Sclerosis.  One day she was visiting the care facility (with her mom) where her grandmother is residing and she saw one of our quilts being delivered to one of the residents.  She really loved the quilts delivered that day, so Bonnie, our quilter/ delivery person, asked what was her favorite thing:  Chickens!  She used to help her family with the chickens when she was younger.

This is how some of our themes are decided . . . someone needs a little pick-me-up and a quilt is organized, the squares are stitched and sent in by members, and the quilter makes the beautiful quilt.

This is the quilt top that Bonnie has already assembled for this young lady.   All it needs now is the binding and the help of Bonnie's long-arm machine, Lizzy.  Then it will be ready for delivery.
